Fun In Pattaya - Another 2 week visit to Thailand done and dusted |
|
Another 2 week visit to Thailand done and dusted. After going there for the first time last December with my friend, this time I went alone. You might have read 'My Nightlife' posted on 27/02/04, where I said I?d be going alone because my friends girlfriend wouldn't allow him. It's not surprising really seeing as he confessed everything he did out there to her!! I want to touch on the fact of how much my views on western women have changed since I returned from my first trip. I look at them differently now, I?m noticing how clear the differences are between them and Thais. I don't even bother looking for an English girlfriend anymore and I?ll be the first one to admit how sad that is. Now just to set the record straight, I don't have any trouble getting a girlfriend in the UK, it's just the fact that I have no desire to. I don't want to be moaned at all the time by women who think the sun shines out their ass. Women who lack feminism, drink too much and have attitude problems. Don't get me wrong, I have been out with some great English women. Its just the fact that I?ve seen the grass on the other side of the fence and its a damn sight greener!! |

In my experience, again I don't profess to be an expert, the 'normal looking ones' can indeed be more dangerous, certainly in my experience. A bargirl while being more business like, at least you know where you stand and it's a 'contractual' thing, quick and clean with no feelings to mess with. Perhaps her education is lower, and she has not been afforded the things others have, but this makes her no less of a person to be reckoned with in fact. Like the vast cross section of Thai womanhood, there's good and bad. [in any country for that matter] You take your chances similarly however with the jean-clad bar beer/go-go girl, or the mysterious and beautiful girl sitting pretty in the Hyatt Erawan bar in a Gucci dress.... Know it, because it is true. |

Sawat dee khrap...it means hello, goodbye, good morning, good night, welcome or any other greeting you can imagine?..(Greetings) from Bangkok, the City Of Angels as it?s known locally (Grung Tep). You thought that title deservedly belong to Los Angeles? Well, LA is for Hispanic angels and BKK is for the Oriental angels. Remember that there are good and bad angels. Bangkok is also known as The Big Mango (vs The Big Apple). I think an expat named it that and it stuck. Bangkok is the biggest city in Thailand, LOS, the Land Of Smiles (it?s also read Land Of Scams or the land of traffic, temples, sex, drugs and rock?n roll), with an official population of 6 million but it is estimated at any given time there are twice as many people in the city and during peak hour (read between 5 AM in the morning until 3 AM at night), it seems that there are 4 times as many people in the city, especially if it?s raining. |

We are Jon and Scott, two 27 year old lads from the north of England. I'm Jon. We are friends from school but due to the fact I now live in London and Scott in Leeds we don't see each other that often, so this holiday was a chance to spend some time together and experience a whole new culture. Neither of us had ever been to Asia before so we were unsure of what to expect (although I did a lot of research including getting lots of info from Stickman?s site), and boy was it different to London or New York! |

Introduction to Bangkok go go bars |
|
The go go bar scene Bangkok is in(famous) for its nightlife since many decades. Best known is the Patpong area, which is going strong now for more than 30 years. Also being around for about two decades is Soi Cowboy, a long time favorite of long term expatriates. The last ten years we witnessed the rise of Nana Plaza. Patpong is located at Silom Road, while the other main a go go bar areas are all located on Sukhumvit Road. The above entertainment areas all cater to tourists and expatriates living in Bangkok. While local men occasionally visit, especially at Soi Cowboy, they are in general discouraged from entering the area (barowners and bargirls want to avoid trouble with them, and between them and foreign customers). There is a go go entertainment area that caters to Thai men at Saphaan Kwaai, where foreigners are allowed to visit but seldom do. |
